David is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics and co-lead of the Computational Sciences & Genomics cross-cutting discipline at the Doherty Institute. He leads a team of biostatisticians to provide collaborative statistical expertise across a broad range of infection and immunity research

His research interests lie in the development and application of statistical methods for the study of infectious diseases. His primary focus is on combining statistical inference, optimisation, and modelling to optimise the use of resources in experiments or observational studies.

He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Adelaide in 2015, and subsequently joined the Disease Dynamics Unit, University of Cambridge as a Research Fellow. In 2017, he joined the Doherty Institute and Centre for Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Melbourne School of Population & Global Health, at the University of Melbourne.
