Elizabeth Korevaar awarded Betty Alan Travel Grant

Congratulations to Lizzie who has been awarded the 2023 Betty Alan Travel Award by the Statistical Society of Australia and CSIRO's Data61. This national award honours Betty’s contribution to Australian statistics and recognises the accomplishments of early career women or non-binary statisticians.

Having had her PhD conferred just one month ago, Lizzie has already made significant contributions on her PhD topic ‘statistical methods for meta-analysis of interrupted time series studies’, with three papers, as well as other contributions in other areas.

She is now undertaking a postdoctoral position at the Methods in Evidence Synthesis Unit, Monash SPHPM, supervised by Joanne McKenzie. This travel grant will be supporting Lizzie to attend the Cochrane Colloquium in London where she will be presenting on one of her PhD papers and leading / co-facilitating two workshops. One of the workshops titled ‘meta-analysis of results from interrupted time series studies’ is underpinned by her doctoral research, and so provides an important avenue for dissemination.

Having conducted much of her PhD through the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns this is a wonderful opportunity for Lizzie to present her work internationally and strengthen her ties with the global Cochrane community.

We look forward to hearing more about this work at an upcoming Work In Progress meeting.
