Congratulations A/Prof Moreno-Betancur!
Congratulations to Margarita Moreno-Betancur on her promotion to Associate Professor within the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
Margarita joined ViCBiostat in late 2014 after completing her PhD in Biostatistics at Université Paris-Sud (Paris, 2014) and a brief postdoctoral experience at the French Epidemiology Centre on Medical Causes of Death (Inserm CépiDc). She has been an integral part of the ViCBiostat leadership team since 2016, leading the Causal inference in health data science research stream, teaching in our annual Summer School courses and supervising PhD students and postdoctoral fellows within the network.
Margarita holds a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) Fellowship from the Australian Research Council (2019-2022), and was recently awarded an NHMRC Investigator Grant for 5 years commencing in 2022. Based at The University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, she leads research that focuses on the development of statistical methods motivated by issues arising in the clinical and population health research projects on which she collaborates, with particular focus in the areas of causal inference, missing data and survival analysis; and is the biostatistical lead for the MCRI's LifeCourse initiative, which comprises over 40 cohort studies in child and adolescent health. Further detail on Margarita’s work can be found through the links on her profile.
Her promotion is a fitting recognition of Margarita’s many achievements as a rapidly emerging leader in our field – locally, nationally and internationally!
